UP Community Guidelines
Last updated: 5 November 2026
On UP everyone says what they're open to: a coffee, a talk, a new friend. That takes away the fear of approaching someone. A few rules keep that trust. UP is for people 18 and older.
Be yourself
Your first name is enough, but it should be yours. Your profile photo is taken with the live camera and should be your face. Don't pretend to be another person or a brand.
A status means what it says
If you said coffee, it's coffee; if you said sport, it's sport. Don't use statuses for sales, advertising, paid services or sexual offers. “Car advice” means advice and company, not a paid service.
Public text
Your display name, your own line and your note are public. Don't put phone numbers, email addresses, IBANs, links or social media handles in them, and no swearing, harassment, sexual content or spam. Moderation keeps such text from being published.
In chats
Be respectful. “No”, or no answer, is an answer; don't push. Harassment, sexual content and spam go to our team for review. Hate speech, threats, offers of sex for money and any sexual content involving anyone under 18 can't be sent anywhere.
Anonymity
Staying anonymous is your right. Don't use it to scare, deceive or bother anyone. Don't try to work out who an anonymous person is; revealing themselves is always their decision.
When you meet
Meet somewhere busy, tell someone close to you where you are, and arrange your own transport. If you feel uncomfortable you can leave; you owe nobody an explanation. Answer the “Did you feel safe?” question after a meeting honestly. Only our safety team sees your answer.
Hard moments
“Talk” is a conversation between two people, not a replacement for professional help. If a note or message sounds like a hard moment, UP shows you free, confidential helplines. If you think someone may hurt themselves, report them with “May hurt themselves”, and if the danger is immediate, call your local emergency number.
18 and older
UP is for adults. Report anyone you think is under 18 with “Under 18”.
Report and block
You'll find Report and Block in the ••• menu on a profile or in a chat. The person you report is not told. When you block someone, you stop seeing each other in Discover, on profiles and in messages, and your chat closes; closed chats stay closed even if you unblock.
Enforcement
UP has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We review reports within 24 hours. We may remove a message or status that breaks the rules and close the account. A closed account can't come back with the same Apple ID.
